What does your Parish Council do??
That's a good question! We are the first tier of government. The Next tier being Stroud District Council and the next is Gloucester County Council.
Parish Councils were formed by an Act of Parliament in 1894, they are specifically to look after the interests of those who live within the parish. So we are here to look after your interests.
Parish Councillors are not paid, have nothing to do with the Parochial Council (PCC) and are not politically affiliated. We have limited powers but a reasonable amount of influence. Both the District and County Councils will consult the Parish Council and take heed of their views.
We are here to represent the residents of the Parish of Stinchcombe in matters of local government. These include:
Local Planning
Economic Development
Environmental Matters
Leisure and Recreational issues
Contact with the District and County Councils
Local Road issues
Community Projects
Provision of Bus Shelters
Upkeep and general look of the Village!
and general help!
